What can I do if I'm confused as to whether my qualifications allow me to start the APC?
If you need further guidance, send your resume to the RICS Contact Centre, using the template link on the right. The Contact Centre has trained staff who can advise you as to which route to membership you are suitable for. Alternatively, email the Contact Centre on contactrics@rics.org or telephone +44 (0)870 333 1600.
What is the quickest time in which I can complete the APC?
This depends on the entry route you are following. How much professional experience you have already obtained will determine how quickly you can complete your APC programme. The minimum period of time in which a candidate following the graduate route can complete the APC is 24 months.
How do I obtain an application pack?
If you send you resume - following the template on the right - to the Contact Centre, you will be sent a pack relevant to your route.
My employer doesn't have a recognised APC training programme but I want to sit the APC. What can I do?
Your employer can contact the relevant RICS Regional Training Adviser (RTA) who will assist with the setting up and running of a structured training programme within the UK. Outside of the UK, contact your local/national association.
I am on a degree course which includes a placement year. Can I start my APC in my year in industry?
Yes. If you are following the 24 months' APC structured training programme, you can enrol on to the APC in your placement year. This will mean you can record up to 12 months' experience in your placement year and complete the rest of your APC experience upon the achievement of your RICS-accredited qualification and finding suitable employment.
I have a degree but it isn't RICS accredited. How long will it take me to sit my final assessment?
You can enrol on an RICS accredited masters course and complete your structured training period alongside your studies. So, in theory you may be able to sit your final assessment in two years if successful on your postgraduate programme.
Once I have submitted my completed application with fees, what will happen?
RICS will check your application and, if everything is ok, will approve it. You will be sent an approval letter stating your enrolment date and provisional final assessment date and also an RICS membership card. The onus is now on you to proceed with your APC programme! If you do not hear from us regarding your approval within one month, please contact us.
