APC Introductory Workshop success

13 November 2008

On the evening of 15 October 2008 a band of APC candidates, fuelled with a thirst for all things APC, descended in their droves upon RICS Scotland Headquarters on Manor Place, Edinburgh to tap into the vast wealth of knowledge of Napier University Building Surveying Lecturer and RICS Regional Training Advisor Mr Alan Melvin.

The evening, arranged by RICS matrics Edinburgh and South East region, comprised a presentation of the APC as well as extra guidance for all the budding candidates in the room.

Topics covered included the competency levels required, the responsibilities placed upon both the employer and the employee and the critical nature of this link; and the various submission requirements of the process amongst a myriad of other helpful hints as to how best prepare oneself for the APC.

The evening allowed candidates to question Alan concerning RICS accredited courses and the range of experience required before sitting the Final Assessment.

Furthermore, the evening provided a valuable networking opportunity for all in attendance.

The evening was well received by all and it is hoped that a similar event will be held in the not too distant future to further support our Chartered Surveyors of the future.

Thanks go to Mr Alan Melvin for kindly donating his time and Ms Susannah Emery of RICS for arranging the evening.
