Reaching the final assessment interview stage means that you have either completed a period of structured training, or have approval to proceed direct to interview due to your academic achievements and experience gained within the profession.
The phrase "final assessment" means the process to determine whether you have met the RICS standards, ethics and APC criteria to become a Professional Member of RICS (MRICS).
You now need to click the box below that relates to the APC route you are following, this will lead you to a page with everything you will need for final assessment. Please also ensure you read all the important notes, located over the next few pages, as something missed could mean you will be unable to proceed to final assessment interview at this time.
RICS publishes statistics after each APC Final Assessment session. Details for Session 2 2008 (Autumn) are now available.
IMPORTANT NOTES - PLEASE READ
- Please ensure that your final assessment application and submission is complete and correct at the time you submit them to RICS. No allowances will be made for incomplete submissions, or changing/amending any of the documentation at a later date.
If your submission is incomplete it will be sent back to you by RICS and your interview will be deferred to the next round of assessments. RICS will check appropriate documents are received, but are but are not responsible for the content of the documents. This will be checked by your assessment panel. Any discrepancies may result in deferring your interview up until seven working days prior to your interview date.
Be aware once you have submitted your application form for final assessment, and then wish to defer, you must do so immediately. Notification must be received in writing/email at RICS before the start of your submission period. If receipt of your wish to defer is received after your submission period has begun a deferral fee will be charged. This fee is currently £275 and is payable at time of your next application for final assessment.
The RICS uses the Oxford Brookes University's definition of plagiarism and cheating; this is "faking or using another person's thoughts, writings or inventions as your own".
Since RICS is responsible for professional ethics, and cheating is a fundamental breach, all incidences of plagiarism will be referred to RICS Professional Regulation.
- Centre choice for assessment
On the application form for final assessment we ask you to indicate your top three choices of assessment location, placing your preference 1-3.
Please keep all centres you have indicated free in your diary. This is due to the volume of candidates coming forward it may not be possible to allocate you to your first choice centre.
- Hand delivering submission documents
It is no longer possible to hand deliver your submissions to the RICS London or Coventry office on the last day of your submission period. Confirmation of the last date to hand deliver submissions will be confirmed in your acknowledgement letter, received once your application for final assessment has been processed. Anyone bringing their submissions to an RICS office after the date specified in the letter will be turned away.
APC results are posted from RICS, Surveyor Court, Coventry 21 days after the date of interview. It is possible for candidates to collect their result from this office on the date of posting. To do this candidates must give RICS 24 working hours notice before coming to the office after 3pm.
