RICS has produced a series of guides to help candidates, supervisors, counsellors and employers through the APC process. We recommend that you read all the guides available.
There is also a series of APC templates for use throughout your training; APC Templates - UK Only, APC Templates - Non-UK.
APC candidate's guide
This guide is an essential part of the APC. It details the requirements of candidates throughout their structured training period.
APC/ATC requirements and competencies guide
This guide details the competency requirements to be achieved during the structured training period for all routes to membership and APC pathways.
APC guide for supervisors, counsellors and employers
This guide has been written to assist supervisors, counsellor and employers in setting up and monitoring the programme of experience/training.
APC Pathway guides
The APC Pathway guides have been written by experienced practitioners and aim to give a clear and practical understanding of how to apply the listed core and optional competencies in context. The official competency definitions (at levels one, two and three) are provided, followed by a description of the key knowledge and activities that are likely to fall within the scope of each competency.
Rules of Conduct - Guidance note
This guide has been written following the update of the Rules of Conduct in June 2007. It informs candidates, supervisors and counsellors on how to study the new Rules of Conduct.
