Energy Assessment

The EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) was introduced in England and Wales from January 2006 with a three year implementation period ending January 2009.

The government is introducing Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) for residential property from 1 August 2007 with the launch of Home Information Packs. Additionally from October 2008, all commercial buildings constructed, sold or rented will require an EPC.

Only accredited energy assessors will be able to carry out assessments to produce Energy Performance Certificates for residential and commercial property.

The facts you need to know regarding the requirements of the EPBD and the timetable for implementation are outlined in a fact sheet downloadable from the right hand menu.
