Market day - make the most of RICS market surveys

RICS' market surveys are uniquely compiled from data solely provided by Chartered Surveyors.

Accurate and up-to-date, the five surveys:

  1. Housing market survey (monthly)
  2. Lettings market survey (quarterly)
  3. Rural market survey (half-yearly)
  4. Construction market survey (quarterly)
  5. Commercial property survey (quarterly)
  6. Arts and Antiques survey (quarterly)

are 'health checks' of these UK and regional markets.

Academics, researchers and content providers frequently contact RICS to request permission to use a survey.

They are directed to the survey index, and recommended to subscribe (see below) to receive future surveys.

Headlines and bottom lines
A survey's own index is presented in calendar layout, with the headline from each survey prominent.

This allows the visitor to track trends at a glance.

For example:

  • 78.5% more Chartered Surveyors reported a fall than a rise in house prices - the lowest figure since the survey began in 1978.  (Housing Market Survey, March 2008)

  • How this slowing housing market has hit the UK construction industry, making it even more unlikely that the Government will reach its housing targets (Construction Market Survey, Q1 2008)
  • How the average price of arable land rose to over £10,00 per hectare (Rural Market Survey, H2 2007)
