MPs
quiz RICS Chief Economist on housing market downturn
Last week, RICS Chief Economist Simon Rubinsohn was called before
the influential Treasury Committee for a one-off evidence session
on the economics of the housing market alongside several experts.
The remit of the Treasury Committee is to examine the expenditure,
administration and policy of HM Treasury, HM Revenue & Customs,
the Bank of England and the Financial Services Authority.
The Committee of MPs questioned RICS on de-skilling within the
construction industry, the lettings market, the private rented
sector and our policy on first time buyers, amongst other things.
