The Arts and Antiques Faculty is the home within RICS for arts and antiques Surveyors. The faculty's key objective is to deliver professional standards, guidance and information to members. In addition the faculty aims to raise the status of the Chartered Arts and Antiques Surveyor as provider of the most comprehensive and professional advice on the valuation, purchase, sale and management of antiques and fine arts.

Faculties are responsible for setting the strategic direction for the future of their specialism’s and for identifying and serving the information needs of their members. The Arts and Antiques Faculty has approximately 2,000 members who benefit from:
- An internationally respected qualification that is recognised as the ‘gold standard’ of professional competence
- A regular and up to date professional journal that provides advice and commentary on key issues facing the profession
- Professional Guidance relating to specific practice areas
- The ability to lobby and influence government and other policy makers on government consultations through membership of British Art Market Federation

The Arts and Antiques Faculty also sets the standards for entry to the faculty and is responsible for the APC Competencies and contributing to the professional assessment of mature entry candidates. Your Faculty Pathway Guides explain how these competencies can be applied in practice.
Alternative routes to entry are also available for mature and experienced candidates.

The faculty provides help and advice to its members and the general public and seeks to stimulate debate and innovate on matters relating to standards. As a faculty member you will receive regular industry news via e-briefs and through your dedicated technical journal, RICS Arts Surveyor. You’ll also have opportunities throughout the year to network with similar-minded surveyors at various events and conferences.
About the Board
Members of the Arts and Antiques Faculty Board come from a variety of backgrounds and have a diverse range of skills and experience. The Board has a number of working groups dealing with specific aspects of the faculty programme.
