RICS receives HSE recognition

21 March 2007

The HSE has included RICS in the CDM2007 ACoP clause for competence of "individual designers" (where appropriate) and has also confirmed that RICS is a "relevant construction organisation" when looking at the guidelines regarding the competency of CDM co-ordinators.

This is good news as, while RICS membership alone does not imply competence (there are several factors to be considered in the appendices to the ACoP), where a member belongs to an appropriate RICS Faculty, it is a strong indicator that the person has the necessary knowledge to contribute to their competency assessment as a designer or CDM co-ordinator.
