The 43rd Flood and Coastal Management Conference takes place at Manchester University, 1-3 July 2008.
The conference is organised jointly by the Environment Agency and Defra. As the leading event for flood and coastal management professionals, it regularly attracts over 450 delegates from central and local government, operating authorities, contractors and consultants.
At a time of heightened public awareness and concern about flooding and flood risk, the event provides an important and unique forum for experts and practitioners to share policy developments, research results and practical solutions.
Building on the success of the 2007 event, the conference will feature keynote presentations as well as a wide range of more technical sessions, workshops and debates alongside an exhibition and networking area showcasing the latest developments in flood defence and coastal management. Delegates will also have the opportunity to meet colleagues and network at the event gala dinner, held this year at the home of Manchester United FC, Old Trafford.
Featured speakers include:
- Sir Michael Pitt, Chair of Independent Government Review of Summer 2007 Floods
- Cllr Carl Minns, Leader of Hull City Council
