A trip to Chester races

01 August 2007

The first RICS matrics Greater Manchester racing event took place at
Chester Racecourse at the end of August 2006.

A coach full of Surveyors attended the event from Manchester, which was sponsored by Beresford Blake Thomas. The usual scenes of glamorous ladies in outrageous dress and slick suited men filled the enclosure and the RICS matrics party made home outside the Champagne tent. (Typical surveyors you might say!)

The day went extremely well, many a torn betting slip was thrown on the floor in anger, as the 3 legged donkeys continued to come in last. All was forgotten back at the tent, with a large number of Surveyors soon forgetting about the betting as they drowned their sorrows at the bar!!!

With rain threatening to stop play the last race finished with more
Surveyors losing than winning, ask a Surveyor property advice but never listen to their tips on the racing!!!

The coach made its way back into Manchester for around 8pm, with the
night continuing in one or two local bars! After this the night gets a bit hazy...

Anyway enough of that, a big thank you to our sponsors Beresford Blake Thomas for supporting the event, a thank you to Nabila Afilal and Rebecca Best of Bucknall Austin and Owain Thomas of BWS for organising the event and a thank you to all the surveyors who attended...

So get yourself a years subscription to the Racing Post and get studying for next years event!!!
