Event overview
RICS matrics Derbyshire will be hosting a special behind the scenes tour of Burton Flour Mill.

The Burton Flour Mill is one of the most historical and important sites in Burton on Trent. It dates back to
medieval times and was used for the production of flour, chicken feed and dog biscuits.

At its peak more than 800 people were employed at the site. The Mill closed in 1990 after which it continued to
fall into disrepair and, after being bought and sold by two other developers, it was finally purchased by Conack Homes
(Midlands) Limited in 2001.

Since then Conack Homes have undertaken a painstaking seven year refurbishment programme of the four remaining mill buildings and complemented these with three
sympathetically designed new build blocks.

The development is due to be completed in August 2008 and
comprises a range of one to three bedroom luxury apartments and townhouses situated on a stunning
riverside location.

The site visit will comprise of a short presentation by Alf Plumb, director of DPDS Consulting, who will speak on the planning issues surrounding redevelopment of Listed Buildings.

This will be followed by Kevin Ellis, director of Conack Homes (Midlands) Limited and managing director of Gainsborough Property, who will speak about the specific issues and problems of the redevelopment of The Flour Mills.

The event will close with a buffet and an opportunity to network and ask the speakers questions.
