Lincolnshire local association go inside regional landmark

This spring RICS members got a rare behind the scenes tour of the Humber Bridge near Kingston upon Hull.

The major transport route and key Lincolnshire landmark is the fifth largest single-span suspension bridge in the world and spans the Humber estuary connecting East Riding in Yorkshire with North Lincolnshire.

Altogether 20 RICS members took part in the evening tour, which was organised by RICS Lincolnshire local association. Each was able to take in the breath taking views across the bridge and estuary and saw the inner workings of the massive steel structure.

This included a climbing down to the bridge’s anchorage and a visit to the traffic control centre, which operates all of the electronic signs that ensure the 120,000 vehicles, which cross the bridge every week, keep moving smoothly.

The tour was a sell-out success and was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended.
