RICS matrics members play golf with a difference.

Tiger Tom "putts" his best foot forwards

RICS matrics East Midlands swapped green fields for green screens in the regional heat of the national RICS matrics golf tournament.

The competition, which was hosted by RICS matrics Nottinghamshire in May, was a sell-out success with more than 15 male and female players competing in doubles style tournament.

In a break from tradition, and in an attempt to beat the British weather, instead of taking place on a green golf course, the competition was held at the Nottingham Cybergolf Centre.

During the tournament competitors experienced a one-and-a-half-hour ‘virtual’ course time, with the top two pairs facing a sudden death putt-off to decide the overall champion.

Will Logan and Dave Collett were victors of the team stage, with Tom Brand and Scott Osborne clinching the runners-up spot. Tom's superior handicap was evident as he went on to win the singles putt-off and was declared the 2008 singles champion for the East Midlands. The competition was followed by a cold buffet.
