The South West’s most innovative building projects were celebrated at the regional final of the RICS Awards during May.
From a shortlist of 17 finalists, awards were presented for the best projects in each of the five categories - building conservation, community benefit, regeneration, sustainability and project of the year.
Local broadcaster Bob Constantine hosted the ceremony at the Bath Pump Rooms, which saw property professionals from across the region join together to celebrate examples of property and building excellence in the South West.
The three winners on the night were: Great Bow Wharf and Yard in Langport, Somerset which received awards in three categories – sustainability, regeneration and project of the year; Clerks Cottage in Spaxton near Bridgewater received the award in the building conservation category and the community benefit category winner went to Bosombe Library, Dorset.
A fourth project was also highly commended by the RICS judges - Dunster Tithe Barn Community Hall, Somerset.
Thank you to our sponsors on the night - the South West of England Regional Development Agency, Davis Langdon LLP and English Partnerships.
The winning projects will now have the opportunity to compete in the National Final which takes place at the Millennium Hotel, in Mayfair on 17 October 2008. Kevin McCloud, presenter of Channel 4’s Grand Designs will host this year’s grand final.
