RICS matrics NI on a treasure hunt

RICS matrics Northern Ireland Treasure Hunt and Scavenger Trail

On evening of 7 March 11 teams took to the streets of Belfast in the inaugural RICS NI matrics Treasure Hunt & Scavenger Trail event.

Six local teams were joined by 5 visiting teams (made up of the RICS matrics UK Council).

Local firms included teams from Bruce Shaw Partnership, WH Stephens & Whelan Property Consultants.

The aim of the event was to navigate your way around six watering holes, pick up a number of objects and answer some general knowledge questions.

The teams did some ‘blue sky thinking’ in the hope of being the winners.

Objects that the teams had to obtain included boxer shorts, a sparkly thing, something that had a shamrock on it and till receipts from each pub on the hunt.

The teams had to get answers to local questions including the telephone number of Belfast Zoo, the oldest published newspaper in Belfast and the inscription on the edge of a £2 coin.

Teams used their initiative to answer these questions which included approaching tipsy strangers in the bars, making phone calls to family members with internet access at home and begging the opposition for help.

Once all the teams had visited the bars, the adjudicators got marking and assessing the obtain items.

After much deliberation, Gin’ll fix it, a local team representing Whelan Property Consultants, were named as the winners.

Other spot prizes were given for inventiveness, funny alternatives, etc. which included best range of items obtained, best portrait of a team member (Karen Rogers was the muse in question) and answers that made Seaneen and other markers laugh.

After much debating the right and wrong answers with Seaneen, the locals and visitors, colleagues & fellow RICS matrics members spent the evening networking and bonding.

All in all, a very successful event due to the partipation of matrics members, which also help to raise a substantial amount for local charties and LionHeart.
