Farming, Food and Countryside- Building a secure future

RICS Wales fully supports all efforts of the Welsh Assembly Government to promote and develop Welsh Agriculture.  As the paper points out that support can only be given in the light of the existing World, European and National Agricultural situation.

There are no objections to the overall objectives namely; supporting a more profitable future, sustaining farming families, safeguarding the environment, mitigating climate change and supporting the viability and prosperity of rural communities. All of these aims are fully acceptable and of major importance to Wales and its agricultural and rural business communities.

Most of the price levels which determine the profitability of agriculture on a UK scale are outside the influence of the National Assembly. However, the National Assembly’s efforts to promote co-operation on behalf of producers, co-operation in machinery rings, and assistance to processing industries in Wales are all substantial points on which the assembly can have a major influence.
