RICS Wales Policy Report April 2008

03 April 2008

Amongst a flurry of current policy papers the most important is the Wales Spatial Plan ‘People, Places, Futures’.

This document is important because it is an attempt to set out a 20 year vision for the future of Wales and embody the direction of the ‘One Wales’ Policy document, which sets out the key challenges facing Wales in responding to climate change, tackling poverty and building a prosperous and inclusive society.

The document is unique in that it covers all of Wales but divides the country into six distinct areas dealing with each in further detail. Seminars have already taken place around the country where most interested organisations, including the RICS, have been represented.

However, given that the document is designed to guide future policy it is imperative RICS Wales makes a considered written response. Thus, I am making a further plea for your views, particularly at a local level, where I am certain there are a number of well informed opinions of which we need to make the Assembly aware.

The full details are available from the Assembly website, together with the response questions.

The final date for responses is 25 April 2008 and it would be appreciated if any contributions could be forwarded to me at jharper@rics.org or the by April 17th to enable your comments to be included. Comments can be sent by letter, e-mail or telephone 02920 224414.
