• Reduce VAT to 5% for refurbishment and retrofit
• Introduce a compulsory code for sustainable buildings
• Promote local sourcing of building materials
• Increase recycling rates
• Provide easier access to information
• Reduce bureaucracy
• Encourage better training on sustainability issues
• Introduce tax relief to make buildings more energy efficient
• Ensure best practice through a holistic ‘cradle to grave approach’
• Fund more research on energy efficient buildings
• Encourage corporate and personal responsibility
