Hot Topic: Eco-towns

Eco-towns are defined in Communities and Local Government Homes for the Future: more affordable, more sustainable 2007 Annexe C Glossary p123 as "exemplar green developments designed to meet the highest standards of sustainability, including low and zero carbon technologies and good public transport". 

Communities and Local Government Eco-towns webpage highlights key publications which trace the progress of econ-towns since their initial launch in 2007.

Town and Country Planning Association (TCPA) Eco-towns Scoping Report and its series of worksheets on eco-town related topics which include the development for sustainable communities, public transport sustainble water management and green infrastructure can be viewed on the TCPA eco-towns webpage.
