RICS President and Land Registry CE sign the agreement

Land Registry's surveyor specific web resource for RICS members

Land Registry (LR) have launched a 'surveyor' specific web resource area for RICS members. The new LR web area outlines the benefits of registration and how RICS members can take a leading role in providing expert advice to unregistered land owners. There is even an offer of a 25% discount for first registration.

Land Registry and RICS have pledged their commitment to create a more comprehensive Land Register for England and Wales by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU).

Peter Collis, Chief Executive of Land Registry and Chief Land Registrar and Steve Williams, President of RICS, signed the formal document at Land Registry’s Head Office in Lincoln’s Inn Fields on Tuesday 13 June.

The MoU officially seals the working relationship between the two organisations to work together to better serve the property industry and the public and outlines their shared objectives in creating a comprehensive register.

The focus of joint efforts will be to continue to promote the benefits of comprehensive registration to owners and managers of property, enabling the acceleration of the programme.

Peter Collis, Chief Land Registrar said:

'I am delighted to sign the MoU formalising the relationship between Land Registry and RICS. We have continually engaged with our stakeholders on the development of the voluntary registration campaign and we look forward to continuing a close relationship with RICS and its members'.

Steve Williams, President of RICS added:

'Because Chartered Surveyors provide essential business and property advice to their clients, they are central and critical drivers behind the push for land registration. The RICS fully supports the Land Registry in its initiative to achieve a comprehensive Land Register of England and Wales by 2012 and believe it to be in the best interest of the public, property owners and, from a world view, the nation's economy.'
