No rooms for gloom as young surveyors reap rich dividends from their profressional status, writes Ali Jones for RICS Business.
Taking into account the uncertain economic conditions and reverberations triggered by the credit crunch, there are few professions that can boast strong salary increases over the past 12 months.
However, the property profession proved to be the exception.
The 2008 RICS and Macdonald & Company Salary and Benefits Survey has revealed that the profession is far from sinking, with the steady 6.25 per cent increase in salaries over the past four years continuing in 2007-8.
These figures have been backed up by positive feelings throughout the industry that, contrary to media reports and inevitable scaremongering, the property sector is strong enough to withstand any dip in the market.
