Valuing Sustainable Urbanism

A new report by The Prince's Foundation, HRH Prince of Wales’s built environment charity, suggests that the government’s target of three million new homes by 2020 need not result in sprawl and environmental damage if we build walkable, mixed use, mixed income developments instead of the default option of car-dependent housing estates.

This report aims to prove the business case for mixed use development to landowners, the building industry and the investment sector and its findings have provoked considerable interest, not least because the work has been researched by Savills, who have been able to use its findings when persuading clients to pursue new ways of land assembly, masterplanning, and the value of a “patient capital” approach to finance.
