TechRICS for Residential Lending

Lenders are familiar with chartered surveyors, identified by the designatory letters MRICS (members) and FRICS (fellows), but increasingly a new designation, TechRICS is also encountered.

RICS introduced the "technical" grade of membership in recognition of the trend for increased reliance on technical staff to carry out focussed technical and analytical functions. In this context RICS has worked closely with the Council of Mortgage Lenders to create a TechRICs qualification in Residential Survey and Valuation, designed to meet the needs of residential mortgage lenders.

The purpose of this information sheet is to confirm the suitability of Technical Members for undertaking residential valuation for the purpose of secured lending.
