In April 2008, the European Parliament adopted Written Declaration 111/2007 on ending street homelessness.
In this written declaration Members of European Parliament (MEPs) recognise access to housing as fundamental human right, and urge the European Commission and the Council (Member States) to undertake action.
A written declaration is a tool for MEPs to launch or re-launch a debate on a matter falling within the EU’s scope of activities.
This written declaration has been the work of FEANTSA, the European Federation of National Organisations working with the Homeless. RICS is amongst the organisations supporting this initiative.
The written declaration and a common letter sent out to MEPs on behalf of 14 European networks (including RICS) are available for download at the right-hand side of the screen.
