Event Overview
This seminar will look at load paths and forms of load, the differences between structural forms and the way in which different materials behave.
The session will also include the different ways in which failures can be categorised and ways in which we can classify the structural failure of a building. Audience participation is mandatory.
Speaker Chris Mahony graduated from the University of Reading in 1989 with an honours degree in Building Surveying and qualified in London as a Chartered Building Surveyor with Hunter & Partners in 1991. After a spell of further research at the University of Reading, he moved to Nottingham and was senior surveyor for Drivers Jonas.
In 1998 he set up his own practice in Nottingham and is Director and Head of Building Consultancy of Church Lukas, which provides Building Consultancy and Architectural services across the UK.
Chris is Chairman of the RICS Building Pathology Working Group and Author of Modern Methods of Construction on the RICS isurv channel. He has undertaken and chaired numerous road shows and CPD events, including speaking at the previous two years Briefings. Chris is a member of the RICS Asbestos Working Group and has chaired a number of road shows when the CAWR took effect.
He is a past member of the RICS Building Surveying and Maintenance Practice Panel. Chris is also a member of the British Institute of Facilities Management and the Association for Project Safety.
