This major international conference will have practical value to owners, Architects, Surveyors, Engineers, Conservators, Craftsmen and Contractors. It will help inform building owners and their professional teams of the means by which conservation repairs should be tackled and will be a basis by which future research and education can be identified.

The speakers will examine the use and repair of stone, lime, brick, the structural repair of timber, paint and lead. There will be case studies looking at how specialist techniques are put into practise in standard building contracts and there will be an opportunity to share knowledge with colleagues from Estonia and Malaysia.

The conference will bring together conservators from home and abroad, revealing the synergy that exists in working with old buildings, whether they are in Scotland, Eastern Europe or the Far East.

The keynote speaker, Professor Dr Peter Burman MBE will introduce issues such  as sustainability, ethical intervention, quality and standards and we are also delighted to have Professor Charles McKean of the University of Dundee, Professor Bill Hamilton of UTM Malaysia and Dr Jaan Tamm, Chairman of the Estonian Heritage Society participating.
