The RICS Domestic Energy Assessors Register is an accreditation scheme approved by government to regulate RICS members carrying out energy performance certificates for inclusion in Home Information Packs (HIPs).

The scheme provides ongoing monitoring and quality control that government requires to ensure that RICS member domestic energy assessors meet prescribed standards.

To join the RICS Energy Assessors Register:

  • You must be an RICS member
  • You will also need to have completed a qualification in Domestic Energy Assessment - either the RICS diploma or a qualification from an approved awarding body (such as ABBE, City & Guilds or NAEA).

When you apply to join the RICS accreditation scheme you will be asked to submit a copy of your diploma certificate.

Additionally you will be requested to obtain a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check. It is RICS policy to require applicants to the accreditation scheme to undertake this.

Fees and charges

There are two levels of entry fee:

  • RICS member - £60.00
  • RICS student member - £160.00

The RICS scheme is run on a not-for-profit basis which allows RICS to keep the annual fee to a minimum level to cover costs.

The charges for lodging reports via one of the following RICS technology partners (Quest or Property Tectonics) will vary dependent on which software you choose to use.
