RICS Crest

RICS' top level strategy is set by a Governing Council, chaired by the President, including RICS members from all world regions. The Council, which meets three times a year, is supported by a number of other RICS member groups, whose total membership is around 1,000.

These include world regional boards, national councils, UK regional boards, 17 Professional Group Boards, and policy committees covering ethics, education, public affairs, marketing, research and dispute resolution. Governing Council has delegated key decision making to its Management Board to assist in the management of operational activities.

Governing Council has also established an Audit Committee, a Regulatory Board, a Nominations Committee and an Administrative Appeals Panel which have Terms of Reference approved by Governing Council for the remit of their operations.

Our Medium Term Strategy

The medium term strategy lays out the vision, aims and objectives of RICS, which covers 2006 to 2011.

In simple terms, it aims to map out how the RICS is to achieve its overall objective of being "the mark of property professionalism worldwide".

An important part of this new strategy is development of our four 'frontline strategies'

  1. Communicating and influencing
  2. Professional standards
  3. Professional knowledge
  4. Membership

This approach is designed to help improve business efficiency and align the organisation to be better positioned to deliver on its strategic objectives. Annual General Meeting and Governing Council speeches
