RICS' Inclusive Environments Consultants Scheme

Channing Planning

RICS' Inclusive Environment Consultants Scheme provides an online register of accredited property professionals who have the knowledge, experience and expertise to practise as Inclusive Environment Consultants.

Members on the register include chartered surveyors and other property professionals who have been accredited by RICS to provide best-practice advice on inclusive design and the management of accessible and inclusive environments in accordance with equality legislation. Registered consultants can demonstrate their status using the designation IEC. Additionally, chartered surveyors use the designation MRICS or FRICS, which means they are either a member or a fellow of RICS.

Candidates who wish to join the scheme follow a particular application route, depending on their previous experience:

  • New-entrant candidates
Candidates who have little or no experience or qualifications relating to inclusive environments. These candidates must undertake a relevant training course and pass the Certificate in Inclusive Environments before applying to go forward to the final assessment interview
  • Experienced candidates
Candidates who can demonstrate significant relevant skills and/or qualifications in inclusive environments. These experienced individuals may go directly to the examination or panel interview stage without the training requirement, depending on their level of experience

Applicants must also provide a record of relevant Inclusive Environments continued professional development (CPD) training for the previous three years. Evidence must comply with RICS rules and guidelines, detailed within the CPD link.

In all cases the registration is for individuals and is not accreditation of a practice or company.

If you feel you meet the eligibility criteria as described above and wish to apply, please complete the application form below.

Re-assessment

Members of the Inclusive Environments Consultants Scheme are subject to ongoing monitoring by RICS Regulation. Failure to satisfy the panel may lead to withdrawal of accreditation.
