Find out more about RICS in Scotland
There are five committees across Scotland in Aberdeen and North East, Edinburgh and South East, Glasgow and West, Highlands and Islands and Tayside and Fife. There is also representation in Dumfries and Galloway.
What is RICS matrics
RICS matrics is an arm of RICS for students, trainees and chartered surveyors with up to 10 years' post-qualifications experience. If you fall into any of these categories, you are already a member.
RICS matrics is formed from a structure of local committees across the UK, including six in Scotland. We organise local events such as CPD seminars, sporting events, charity balls and dinners, and inter-professional networking events.
We can also offer vital support and information on the APC process for those wishing to attain their chartered status. We organise many APC advice surgeries and can put our members in touch with APC doctors and offer advice on 'mock interviews'.
Why get involved?
- Networking opportunities within surveying and across other professions
- Identifying employment opportunities
- Opportunities to raise your profile within the industry
- Fulfilling CPD or lifelong learning requirements
- Raising money for local charities through events
- Opportunities to have your voice heard and/or have a say in how RICS matrics/RICS is run
- Most RICS matrics events are free
How can RICS matrics help me?
There's plenty to be gained from making contact with matrics. Working in your area, the committees in Scotland are run by RICS members, for RICS members. They organise social and networking events as well as CPD talks examining some of the topical issues affecting the profession.
This can prove especially useful if you are writing a dissertation or trying to make contacts that will help you in your career.
For those members employed and studying for the APC, matrics also runs advice surgeries, which are essential for anyone juggling full-time work with study.
