Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT)

Full members of the CIAT (designation MCIAT) are eligible for Direct Entry to Associate membership of RICS, in the Building Control, Building Surveying, and Quantity Surveying and Construction pathways. They must successfully complete the RICS ethics module.

Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) 

Full members of the CIOB (designation MCIOB) are eligible for Direct Entry to Associate membership of RICS, in the Building Control, Building Surveying, Project Management, and Quantity Surveying & Construction pathways. They must successfully complete the RICS ethics module.

Full members of the CIOB with at least 10 years' professional experience (which can pre-date CIOB membership), are eligible for Adaptation Route 1. They must successfully complete 450 study hours from the final year of an RICS accredited Bachelor’s degree or any year of an RICS accredited postgraduate course before applying for final assessment.  

Full members of the CIOB with at least 10 years' professional experience (which can pre-date CIOB membership) and in a senior industry position, confirmed by an RICS review panel on the basis of a CV, may be eligible for the Senior Professional Route (which does not require additional study hours). They must have been full members of the CIOB for at least two years.

Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (ICES)

Technical members of the ICES (designation TMInstCES) who qualified through:  

Cost Engineering, Construction Law, Estimating, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Geospatial Engineering, or Hydrographic Surveying

Are eligible for Direct Entry to Associate membership of RICS, in the Hydrographic Surveying, Land Engineering Surveying, Project Management, and Quantity Surveying & Construction pathways. They must successfully complete the RICS ethics module.  

Full members of the ICES (designation MCInstCES) with at least 10 years' professional experience (which can pre-date ICES membership), are eligible for Adaptation Route 1. They must successfully complete 450 study hours from the final year of an RICS accredited Bachelor’s degree or any year of an RICS accredited postgraduate course before applying for final assessment.

Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) 

Full members of the CIH (designation MCIH) are eligible for Direct Entry to Associate membership of RICS, in the Residential Property Management pathway. They must successfully complete the RICS ethics module.

Full members of the CIH with at least 10 years' professional experience (which can pre-date CIH membership), are eligible for Adaptation Route 1. They must successfully complete 450 study hours from the final year of an RICS accredited Bachelor’s degree or any year of an RICS accredited postgraduate course before applying for final assessment.

Energy Institute (EI)

Full members of the EI with at least 10 years' professional experience (which can pre-date EI membership), are eligible for Adaptation Route 1. They must successfully complete 450 study hours from the final year of an RICS accredited Bachelor’s degree or any year of an RICS accredited postgraduate course before applying for final assessment.

Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS)

Full members of the ICAS, with at least 10 years' professional experience (which can pre-date ICAS membership), are eligible for Adaptation Route 1. They must successfully complete 450 study hours from the final year of an RICS accredited Bachelor’s degree or any year of an RICS accredited postgraduate course before applying for final assessment.

Institute of Chartered Foresters (ICF) 

Full members of the ICF with a relevant undergraduate honours degree or higher, and 10 years' experience post full membership of ICF are eligible for Direct Entry to membership of RICS.  

Full members of the ICF with at least 10 years' professional experience (which can pre-date ICF membership) and in a senior industry position, confirmed by an RICS review panel on the basis of a CV, may be eligible for the Senior Professional Route (which does not require additional study hours). They must have been full members of the ICF for at least two years.

Institute of Clerks of Works and Construction Inspectorate (ICWCI)

Full members of the ICWCI (designation MICWCI and FICWCI) are eligible for Direct Entry to Associate membership of RICS, in the Building Surveying pathway. ICWCI members based in Hong Kong are also eligible for Direct Entry to Associate membership of RICS in the Project Management pathway. They must successfully complete the RICS ethics module.  

Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (IEEM)

Full members of the IEEM with at least 10 years' professional experience (which can pre-date IEEM membership), are eligible for Adaptation Route 1. They must successfully complete 450 study hours from the final year of an RICS accredited Bachelor’s degree or any year of an RICS accredited postgraduate course before applying for final assessment.

Full members of the IEEM with at least 10 years' professional experience (which can pre-date IEEM membership) and in a senior industry position, confirmed by an RICS review panel on the basis of a CV, may be eligible for the Senior Professional Route (which does not require additional study hours). Institute of Electrical Engineers (IEE)

Full members of the IEE with at least 10 years' professional experience (which can pre-date IEE membership), are eligible for Adaptation Route 1. Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA)

Full members of the IEMA with at least 10 years' professional experience (which can pre-date IEMA membership), are eligible for Adaptation Route 1. They must successfully complete 450 study hours from the final year of an RICS accredited Bachelor’s degree or any year of an RICS accredited postgraduate course before applying for final assessment.

Institute of Residential Property Management (IRPM)

Members or Fellows of the IRPM are eligible for Direct Entry to Associate membership of RICS, in the Residential Property Management pathway. They must successfully complete the RICS ethics module.

Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) 

Full members of the IStructE with at least 10 years' professional experience (which can pre-date IStructE membership), are eligible for Adaptation Route 1. They must successfully complete 450 study hours from the final year of an RICS accredited Bachelor’s degree or any year of an RICS accredited postgraduate course before applying for final assessment.

Royal Institution of British Architects/Royal Incorporation of Architects for Scotland (RIBA/RIAS)

Full members of the RIBA/RIAS with at least 10 years' professional experience (which can pre-date RIBA/RIAS membership), are eligible for Adaptation Route 1. They must successfully complete 450 study hours from the final year of an RICS accredited Bachelor’s degree or any year of an RICS accredited postgraduate course before applying for final assessment.

Full members of the RIBA/RIAS with at least 10 years' professional experience (which can pre-date RIBA/RIAS membership) and in a senior industry position, confirmed by an RICS review panel on the basis of a CV, may be eligible for the Senior Professional Route (which does not require additional study hours). They must have been full members of the RIBA/RIAS for at least two years.

Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI)

Full members of the RTPI with at least 10 years' professional experience (which can pre-date RTPI membership), are eligible for Adaptation Route 1. They must successfully complete 450 study hours from the final year of an RICS accredited Bachelor’s degree or any year of an RICS accredited postgraduate course before applying for final assessment.
