RICS Red Book - India edition
Introduction to the 'Red Book'
RICS has been publishing IVS compliant valuation standards since 1976. This publication is known as the 'Red Book' and is considered as the 'gold standard' of valuation practice worldwide.
The Red Book produces localised standards in different countries for different applications, including valuations for bank lending, taxation purposes, financial reporting, IPOs and mergers and acquisitions. It also provides guidance across different asset classes.
After a stringent process spanning more than a year, RICS successfully compiled the first edition of RICS Valuation Standards (the Red Book) - India.
These standards provide a definitive framework which can be mandated by different stakeholders as a basis of valuations for different applications including bank lending, taxation, financial reporting and valuation of development land. They will provide the first element of standardisation in this important area which impacts all financial decisions.
RICS Valuation - Professional Standards 2012 (the 'Red Book') is now available. The India edition of the Red Book will be revised in 2013.
