Many people have a negative view about estate agents. In many respects this isn’t entirely surprising. For years it has remained a largely unregulated sector‚ with a number of high profile cases of sharp practice and dishonesty. Large amounts of money are involved in the buying and selling of land‚ property and homes but anyone can become an estate agent – even though they have little in the way of professional knowledge‚ training or ethics.

At RICS we don’t believe that it has to be this way‚ which is why we are creating a register of the more professional and ethical estate agents in the UK. This will help you to identify an estate agent that abides to a clear and ethical code of practice.
