The RICS Scotland Valuation Professional Group Board exists to promote, influence and advise on issues affecting chartered valuation surveyors in Scotland.

RICS Scotland Valuation Professional Group Board members have been busy working on particular areas of current interest for the profession and the current market needs on behalf of the membership. Below is a summary of some of these areas.

Valuation of Land for Affordable Housing: The RICS Scotland draft Guidance Note for Valuation of Land for Affordable Housing that had been due to go out for consultation had been put on hold. RICS Scotland had been advised by the Scottish Government Housing and Investment Division that there are major changes proposed to the funding rules and regime for the Valuation of Land for Affordable Housing.

It is anticipated that these changes will be issued shortly. RICS Scotland will now need to consider the valuation implications of any changes and make the necessary amendments to the RICS Scotland draft guidance note before proceeding to consultation stage.

Once the note has been reviewed and any necessary amendments made the working group will then seek comments/views at various stages prior to publication by holding informal meetings.

Mock APC Interviews: Discussion had taken place on ways in which this initiative could be offered to all RICS Scotland candidates and not just valuation candidates. 

There is a proposal for a Mock APC Interview day to be held separately for each of the Professional Group Boards. The format of the day will be that of a mock APC interview being staged by RICS Assessors with candidates in the room observing. 

A Q & A session will be held the end of each mock interview for more specific technical aspects of the interview for their particular sector. Dates to be confirmed.
