Congratulations to the winner of the Tourism & Leisure award at the RICS Awards grand final: Remembrance Centre at the National Memorial Arboretum (West Midlands).
The National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire is the UK’s year-round centre of Remembrance; a spiritually uplifting place which honours the fallen, recognises service and sacrifice and fosters pride in our country.
The new £15.7m Remembrance Centre engages materially with its environment with a soft material concept of larch timber and natural stone. The centre provides a gateway into the 150-acre site and is also home to exhibition, interpretation and retail spaces, a restaurant, a café and a learning centre.
RICS judges said this deceptively simple building succeeds in meeting diverse and complex requirements, including exhibition, interpretation, education, catering and retail. It engages visitors, as a place of welcome and orientation leading to the new Heroes’ Square and on to the Arboretum itself.

Do you know a surveying project which has what it takes to be crowned a winner in next year's event?
2018 marks the 150th anniversary of RICS. To celebrate this milestone, we're launching our Pride in the Profession initiative to showcase the significant and positive impact surveyors have made to society.
We've already dug into the archives to find some exceptional examples. By promoting these incredible people and projects we want to demonstrate how varied and rewarding a surveying career can be.
To make it happen, we need you to nominate the people and projects you admire most.
