RICSDirector of Strategy and Planning
Daniel joined RICS in 2008 working in the Public Affairs and Policy teams based in London. Prior to joining, he had served as Chief of Staff and advisor to a number of Ministers in the NSW State Government. Daniel was actively involved in creating our Climate Change series of events in 2008 and 2009, influencing new UK Government planning legislation and in creating new policy in regard to energy efficiency and value of buildings. During this time, Daniel also developed a new Communications Strategy and team structure for RICS in the Asia region.
In December 2010, he moved to a newly created strategy and planning role, where he has focused on developing our market insight capability and leading our strategic foresight based RICS Futures programme. He works closely with our Governing Council as they develop our corporate strategy. During the past two years he has been involved in creating our first Corporate Strategy and new strategic plans for the Land and Resources sector as well as a strategy for developing the profession in Sub-Saharan Africa. In our new markets such as Brazil, Daniel has also been directly engaging with the market to refine and implement our market entry plans.

The RICS Futures programme explores the implications of key drivers for change to 2030, from mass urbanisation and the emergence of real estate as an investment class, to the rise of the worldwide middle class and the revolutionary promise of big data.
Daniel Cook, 13 Sep 2013
Why a Futures project? Because it has always been part of human nature to imagine what the future will hold.
