RICSManaging Director for Oceania
Stephen has worked in public policy, business strategy and investment for 30 years. He joins us from the Urban Development Institute of Australia, where he was CEO for almost eight years and rebuilt the organisation into a highly influential and financially sustainable advocacy group. Prior to that Stephen was a Director at Macquarie Bank for almost five years and responsible for new business start-ups in the Banking and Property Group. He has held senior positions in organisations such as the Tourism and Transport Forum, Property Council of Australia and the Tourism Council of Australia. Stephen has a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from the Australian National University and a Bachelor of Administration. Stephen joined RICS in January 2017. Stephen said he learnt quite quickly that he had joined an organisation with a proud heritage, and a clever approach to business strategy with enormous potential to transform property locally, nationally and globally by creating confidence and certainty.
RICS has a strong reputation among built environment professionals, their employers and clients; awareness by professionals in Oceania RICS professional qualifications are a global passport is growing. Our task is to encourage more and more aspiring professionals to seek RICS recognition of their qualifications. Change is an opportunity for built environment professionals, as well as for the organisations which represent them. As a global organisation with a broad reach, RICS is uniquely placed to continue working closely with the whole sector to take advantage of these opportunities, sharing global insights, preparing for change and continually raising the bar and standards for built environment professionals.This is an exciting time for RICS Oceania and I am thrilled to be joining the team.
