New Year Welcome from Americas Managing Director, Neil Shah

Neil Shah

Regional Managing Director, Americas (RICS)

Happy New Year and best wishes for a healthy and prosperous 2016! We have a lot to be thankful for and a lot to look forward to this year.

RICS in Americas is continuing on our journey to build recognition for the profession in the region and ensure that highest standards of professionalism are adopted by the market.

To ensure that we are building our capabilities to deliver training and continued professional development, as well as partnering with key stakeholders to ensure that our content is relevant and consistent with local practices. If I were to look ahead at some of the key adoption goals for the year, we’d land bank recognition in Canada across Construction and Valuation, as well as be positioned to deliver USPAP training for new valuers (appraisers) who need to be licensed in the United States.

Our 4th Annual Summit of the Americas will be in conjunction with Governing Council this year in Washington, D.C. This combined event now known as the World Built Environment Forum will become the event that RICS delivers in each of our major international markets. Our keynote this year is Larry Summers, the former Treasury Secretary and President of Harvard University.

This event, combined with our continued investment in training and market engagement activities will drive thought leadership and position RICS as the leading body for the land, property, construction and business valuation professions. I want to again wish you the very best for this coming year and look forward to seeing you at one of our regional events in 2016!
