We're starting the new year, highlighting some exclusive media coverage on what RICS, as an international professional body, is bringing to the different European markets.
Shaping the EU policy agenda for a sustainable future
The Property EU magazine featured in a 2-page article the important role played by RICS in influencing the EU agenda on key policies affecting the built environment and the public interest.
RICS spokespeople explained in the article how the organisation is advising and having a say on important topics such as energy efficiency in the built environment, affordable housing and the growing importance of professional standards.
International standards on hotel valuation in Italy
The newspapers Milano Finanza, Il Sole 24 Ore and Corriere della sera echoed how RICS is bringing international homogeneous and consistent valuation standards to the hotel sector in Italy as an opportunity for the tourism sector and the economy as a whole, as explained by the Chair of the RICS Board in Italy at the convention on investment opportunities organised in Rome last November.
Other sources, such as ANSA, the radio of Il Sole 24 Ore and Monitorimmobiliare also covered this story.
Enhancing professionalism and diversity in France
The Décideurs magazine published last December an exclusive interview with the former Chair of the RICS Board in France on how we are contributing to professionalise the property sector, encouraging a diverse pool of professionals with different specialism and skills. RICS is offering them a global qualification, high quality accredited courses, standards and best practices in many areas.
With the headline “Entrepreneurs, prenez vos marques avec la RICS", Le Journal de l’Agence published this month an article authored by Marc Ménagé MRICS, RICS Country Manager in France, on the main reasons for businesses in the real sector and their clients to recruit, trust and work with a professional with an RICS accreditation.
The article mentioned the quality of experts and their ethical commitment, great offer in terms of education in real estate and the quality label of a international network.
Why Europe’s gender gap is falling slowly
The international media outlet OPP interviewed RICS spokesperson Laura Lindberg on the existing gender gap in Europe’s real estate. In the article she explained that “although it is true that in the last decade some firms are adopting very inclusive policies and there are more female professionals at big real estate fairs and important economic fora, the property and construction sector are still perceived to be among the least diverse."
That’s why one of the organisation’s priorities is to share knowledge on this topic and provide practical advice to firms and employees on how to best embed diversity and inclusion principles in their workplace.
Immobilien Wirstchaft published a 2-page article on gender management based on RICS roundtable discussions organised at Expo Real with Judith Gabler, RICS Director of Operations, Europe.
RICS Cyprus Property Price Index as a top indicator
The Financial Mirror newspaper recognised in an article about real estate in Cyprus – 2016 year in review that the RICS index and that of the Central Bank of Cyprus are the main indices.
