I want to take a moment to wish you and your families the very best during this holiday season.
Dear fellow Florida chapter members,
We have had a very busy and successful 2015 in Florida.
We had the opportunity to host a dinner for members with immediate past RICS President Dr. Louise Brooke-Smith. We were also a sponsor for the first time of BritWeek Orlando, which allowed us to showcase the cutting-edge research that RICS produces, through a panel discussion on the 2015 Futures Report, to an audience of senior real estate and finance professionals.
We have also been invited by the Miami Dade County and the Florida office of UK Trade & Investment to contribute to their risk mitigation strategy on climate change and we are looking forward to being part of this exciting initiative and will share more with you on this as plans develop.
There are many exciting events ahead, including the 2016 Summit of the Americas, which will be held in Washington DC, April 3-5. This will be the fourth Summit of the Americas. They are a great opportunity to hear from and meet industry leaders, and we have received excellent feedback from past attendees. Larry Summers, the former US Treasury Secretary, will be the keynote speaker, and the sessions will focus on areas such as the impact of big data, the public-private partnerships, and the recent SEC challenge to the business valuation community.
This year’s Summit will also examine how the built environment interfaces with broader global issues such as global warming, infrastructure needs and disruptive technology. For more information about the Summit, sessions and speakers, please go to rics.org/dc2016. Spaces are limited, so I’d encourage you to register soon.
In closing, I would like to remind you that your 2015 CPD hours must be completed by December 31st. Please be sure to remember to record your hours on rics.org/cpdrecord.
