The Mid-Atlantic Chapter, which encompasses members in Washington, DC, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and Delaware, has had an outstanding first half of 2015.
We started the year with our traditional curry dinner in January and held several local CPD presentations for members, potential members, students and guests. We continue to encourage all real estate graduate and undergraduate students in the Washington, DC area to attend our local meetings. We also are working to establish relationships with several of the major educational institutions in the DC area.
Our highlight so far this year was when current global President, Louise Brooke-Smith, took the time to attend our local meeting at the World Bank. We were very fortunate that she could spare the time for a meet & greet session as well as an in-depth discussion of the challenges RICS faces in the Americas. This generous time with members was just one stop on her way to the Los Angeles Summit of the Americas 2015, another outstanding event this year.
Looking ahead, our chapter is excited to be the host for the next Summit of the Americas here in Washington, DC, from April 3-5, 2016. Washington is a key global real estate market as well as the headquarters for many international real estate investors, firms and REITS. The Summit will be held during prime cherry blossom time, and with that we are looking forward to greeting many members and colleagues from around the globe! In the meantime, best wishes for a great summer and fall 2015 from your Mid-Atlantic Chapter Chair.
