The RICS Tri-State Chapter hosted their 3rd Annual International Investment Panel on Thursday, February 9.
A snowy evening in NYC couldn’t prevent an enthusiastic crowd from attending what has become a flagship event for RICS in the region. Those who braved the weather were treated to a networking reception and a highly informative program by the evening’s panelists.
Panelists discussed their investment portfolios, goals in North America and how their transactions fit into the global investment strategies of the firms that they represented. The firms on the panel, Colliers International, Wafra Investment Advisory Group, GTIS Partners and GLL Real Estate Partners also discussed their respective histories as well as staff and location information.
Panelists generally viewed President Trump initiatives such as proposed tax reform, Federal infrastructure spending and deregulation as likely positive developments for real estate markets in the US. The panelists also agreed that turmoil in some Latin American countries such as Brazil presented very real opportunities for investors. Chile was also mentioned as offering a favorable investment climate for investors.
Attendees learned about global investment trends and gained perspectives on how to best manage their assets in uncertain political and economic times. One takeaway from the evening was that investment strategies that reflected a diversity of assets were important to shield investors from any risks associated with unexpected disruptions in real estate markets both in North America and beyond.
A special thanks to moderator Julian Josephs (Julian Josephs Company) and the panelists listed below for making this year’s event a success.
• Charles Dana Gibson – GLL Real Estate Partners
• Dietrich Heidtmann – GTIS Partners
• Frank Lively – Wafra Investment Advisory Group
