Other highlights include Thomson Reuters innovation expert, RICS President Amanda Clack – and the Cubs.

The RICS Summit of the Americas, one of the premiere international real estate events in the Americas, blows into the Windy City this year for the first time, from May 1-3. This fifth annual Summit, which is expected to draw 400-plus thought leaders from across the Americas and well beyond, will feature compelling sessions across the built environment, tours, and extensive networking opportunities. RICS is an international land, real estate and construction organization with nearly 120,000 qualified professionals worldwide.

Headlining the event will be Michael Moskow, former president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago; Robert Schukai, head of advanced product innovation at Thomson Reuters; and Amanda Clack, RICS President and head of infrastructure (advisory) for EY in the United Kingdom and Ireland. And in a nod to the host city, there will even be two relevant sessions focused on the hometown Chicago Cubs.

Moskow, an economist by trade, was also a member of the Federal Reserve Open Market Committee. In this role, he was directly involved in deliberations on whether to raise interest rates – which is highly relevant now with the Fed having just raised its benchmark interest rate for the third time since the financial crisis and more increases still possible this year. At the Summit, Moskow will deliver the opening keynote on “The Economy,” looking at the current state of the national and global economy and its impact on global affairs as it relates to the real estate industry. Moskow is currently vice chairman and distinguished fellow on the global economy at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs.

In his role at Thomson Reuters, Schukai oversees development and execution of the mobile growth strategy across the corporation and also leads its central technology innovation function globally. A dynamic and expert speaker on how technology affects people, Schukai has appeared at the famed Aspen Ideas Festival.  At the RICS Summit, he will deliver the second keynote, sharing research and insights on blockchain technology and exploring whether blockchain will really change the real estate industry. Prior to joining Thomson Reuters, Schukai was vice president of wireless and broadband technologies for Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS, Inc.).

As an EY partner, Clack leads on infrastructure across government and the private sector. And as RICS president, her major themes include infrastructure, the “cities agenda,” addressing the profession’s “War for Talent,” and creation and recognition of international standards for the industry. At the Summit, she will: participate in a panel on “Infrastructure: Global Best Practices and Future Trends,” where we will debut a major RICS study on infrastructure in North America; moderate RICS Ethics debate: The value of honest business;” and take part in the closing panel on “The Future of the Profession,” which will include a focus on women.

Finally, apropos the location/host city – and the hometown Cubs winning the World Series last year for the first time since 1908 – we will offer a power keynote on “Valuing the World Series,” where two noted valuation experts will explore the impact of this long-awaited victory on the value of the Cubs and their memorabilia; plus a chance to tour Wrigley Field, the historic home of the Cubs, to explore the current project renovating this revered stadium.
