Sole practitioners and small firms - PII advice

Sole practitioners and small firms: PII advice

One of our aims is to give as much guidance and advice where possible regarding insurance of the surveying profession.

Recently we've been liaising with brokers in the market to discover what products are available.

Previously, RICS were only aware of one product for those members working on projects outside of their regular work, in which case there would not, normally, be cover within their employer's professional indemnity insurance (PII) policy, e.g. charitable work.

Are you aware of your liabilities associated with this type of activity, even if you earn no fee from this professional advice? We have highlighted what needs to be considered when taking on such appointments.

We are also pleased to advise of three providers that we are currently aware of who may be beneficial to members considering voluntary work or becoming self employed:

  • Anchorman Insurance Consultants
  • Howden
  • AON

Disclaimer

We don't recommend specific insurance providers nor products. We are providing members with information available across the market.
