FIDIC in Belt and Road Initiative projects

This seminar will cover important FIDIC changes that were published in December 2017, and the way these will interplay with massive projects, such as the Belt and Road Initiative.

As more and more surveyors are now or going to be involved in Belt and Road Initiative projects, they should fully understand the most common form of contract used for them, namely, FIDIC. As this form of contract is not in general use in Hong Kong, RICS plans to provide talks on this subject depending on the availability of speakers.

This is the first in this series of talks and will introduce the subject matter.

Meet the speaker:

Mr Gilbert Kwok FRICS, Partner of Clyde & Co

Gilbert Kwok is a partner in Clyde & Co's China Projects and Infrastructure Group. He is also the chief representative of Clyde & Co's Beijing office.

He started his legal career in 1991 and is a qualified quantity surveyor. He is experienced in drafting and advising on construction contracts, consultancy agreements and other related contracts, covering a wide range of construction projects in several countries. He also has extensive experience in handling construction disputes and has handled numerous arbitration, litigation and mediation cases for many years.
