Chartered (MRICS)

MRICS demonstrates to colleagues, clients and peers that you have a chartered qualification and work to the highest industry standards.

To enrol as a Chartered candidate you must decide what assessment and pathway is best represented by your experience and qualifications.

  1. Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) – Suitable for individuals with degree level qualification and work-based experience.
  2. Senior Professional Assessment In recognition of exceptional career achievement we offer an assessment specifically designed for senior professionals in roles with leadership and management responsibilities.
  3. Specialist Assessment – Available to those who are delivering enhanced services within an RICS discipline and are recognised for their impact and authority.
  4. Academic Assessment – Suitable for those working as an academic teaching a degree-level programme, with a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum 3 years’ relevant teaching experience.

Fellow (FRICS)

RICS Fellowship recognises your individual achievement as a professional member. It is a mark of distinction: when you achieve fellowship, you join a group of professionals who stand out in the eyes of their peers, of business and of the public. RICS qualifications are recognised around the globe and RICS Fellowship is an international measure of excellence.

All chartered RICS professionals (MRICS) are eligible to apply for fellowship subject to the rules of conduct for members. Before applying, please ensure your CPD record is up-to-date using the CPD recording tool.

What do I need to do?

Fellowship is awarded to individuals who can demonstrate how their achievements reflect the principles of fellowship. You must identify your achievements and match them to 4 of the 12 fellowship characteristics.

This is done through written submissions. You will need to provide:

  • Career history: A 500-word statement on your current role, practices and ambitions, plus a summary of your employment history, and academic and professional qualifications.
  • Personal statement on each characteristic: A 500-word statement demonstrating how your achievement meets the characteristic and reflects the fellowship principles.
  • Third party evidence for each characteristic: A statement or copy document from a third party confirming your achievement.

You can find further guidance in the fellowship applicant guide.

How long will it take me to qualify?

The process from application to result can take up to 2 months. If your application is incomplete or your CPD record is not up-to-date there will be a delay.

How much will it cost?

An assessment fee applies for all applications; details are provided with the application form.
