The RICS Research Trust is looking for new Trustees

Are you curious about how land will be used in the future, how cities can become centres of sustainability and how new technology will shape construction and real estate around the world? In the RICS Research Trust, we seek answers to such questions.

For our Board of Trustees, futures thinking is our bread and butter. We identify big questions facing the disciplines of land, real estate and construction right across the world. We invite researchers to put forward proposals, and we make modest grants available to the most promising. In this way, we help to support, deliver and disseminate high quality, independent reliable knowledge and futures thinking.

Fresh thinking is always needed, and we are looking for three new Trustees to join us later in 2019 (RICS membership is not a pre-requisite). We will welcome applications from those with an interest in:

  • asset funding and management
  • property technology
  • the housing needs of future society
  • real estate research and communication
  • global sustainable development challenges

The role will generally involve attendance at three meetings a year held in London (in-person with the option of teleconference). Trustees do need to set aside time before meetings to review research proposals and assessors' comments and recommendations. Trustees are also expected to engage key external supporters and other stakeholders from within their own networks of contacts. Of course, the role requires all Trustees to adhere to the legal and regulatory responsibilities associated with Trust governance generally.

We welcome applicants from across the globe with the time to commit to board attendance and the delivery of the Trust's objectives.

Application process

Please attach your completed application form, a letter of application, and your current CV outlining your employment history, relevant voluntary work, public service or other experience together with any relevant academic, professional or vocational qualifications that you hold.
