Direct Entry - Do I Qualify?

Direct entry - do I qualify?

RICS recognises certain qualifications as giving exemptions to some of our entry or assessment requirements.

The documents on this page set out the qualifications for:

  • direct entry to MRICS
  • direct entry to AssocRICS
  • entry onto the APC with preliminary review/Senior Professional Assessment

Direct entry to AssocRICS or MRICS is subject to the successful completion of the online ethics assessment.

Step one: Do you have an approved qualification?

All applicants must:

  • have one proposer who is MRICS or FRICS
  • successfully complete the RICS online ethics module
  • provide a letter from the professional body confirming membership is up to date and there are no regulatory matters ongoing or sanctions awarded against the applicant. This should include confirmation of how the applicant gained the qualification.

RICS reserves the right to decline direct entry. In such cases, applicants will be required to undertake the most appropriate RICS assessment.

When applying to RICS through a direct entry, applications are asked to confirm how they gained the approved qualification. If this was by way of a third-party direct entry arrangement which is not RICS-approved, the applicant will be referred to the most appropriate RICS assessment.
