Meet Patrick Brenninkmeijer MRICS: member of the board

After the elections in September 2017, we introduce you to the new board, and their roles and responsibilities.

Our fifth interview is with Patrick Brenninkmeijer MRICS, one of our newly elected board members.

What is your role on the Swiss board?

In the Swiss RICS Board, I am responsible for international relations with other RICS national groups, especially in the DACH region. I attend, and represent Switzerland, in various international RICS events. Additionally, I support a working group in the area of sustainability.

I want to continue to foster the strong network we have among the many RICS members. At the board meetings, we often discuss how we can add more value to our members.

What do you want to achieve in your time on the board?

I want to support RICS in achieving its strategic ambitions in Switzerland. Specifically, as a board member I can help promote the RICS brand, its values and its various standards throughout the country. Additionally, I want to continue to foster the strong network we have amongst the many RICS members. At the board meetings, we often discuss how we can add more value to our members. We aim to do that, for example, by organising various events, publications and working groups.

What is your professional role and career path?

I am the portfolio director at Redevco Switzerland and Central Europe. Redevco is a retail real estate investment management firm, which invests in retail property across Europe. In my current role, I am responsible for the value creation and asset management of our standing portfolio, for sourcing of new investment opportunities and for our divestment activities.

What first interested you in RICS?

RICS provides a strong network for professionals in the real estate industry, with a strong focus on the promotion of ethical behavior. I became a member in Spain in 2008, where I was working at the time, as I was drawn to this strong network of like-minded professionals.

What first got you interested in a career in real estate?

My family has long been involved in retail and retail property. I therefore grew up hearing much about both industries. Following my studies in international relations, I worked in the real estate team of an investment bank. That experience really enhanced my interest in the industry.
